Cellphone users in Canada are paying more for wireless service

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Something we always knew but now there’s a study out that makes it all legit!

Canada landed dead last in terms of wireless penetration, a hot-button measurement in Canada that the government has cited as evidence that the domestic market needs more competition.

What’s at Top of the List? Retention Marketing Maybe?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

It is becoming a lot more important that companies focus on retaining their customers than running after new acquisition in these tough economic times.

Every customer that you have falls into certain high level segments:

  • A newly acquired group
  • A welcome group
  • A engaged group
  • A reconnect group and
  • A reward group

Spend your marketing budget wisely on each or some of these groups so as to enhance your customer experience and build loyalty.

You have available some simple retention strategies that can get you started:

  • If you have a customer service arm get them to start reaching out to your top customers and find out how their businesses are doing and if there is anything you can do to help
  • Give your most loyal customers pricing specials that bring them back and reward their loyalty in tough times
  • Thank your engaged customers with simple yet effective Thank You notes (via email, web or offline post cards)
  • Use a surprise and delight strategy that puts value in the hands of your most engaged and loyal customers
  • Invite a select few customers to an online discussion panel to identify customer service enhancement opportunities
  • Acknowledge the tough economic times and be a thought leader in providing business knowledge and solutions
  • Start a simple eNewsletter to keep customers engaged with your Brand
  • Stress how important your Brand promise is and ensure all levels of the organization are providing excellent customer service

Remember that your customer is king/queen and even the simplest gestures go a long way in keeping and generating new business/sales.

Your Marketing Can Break You or Make You

Tuesday, March 7th, 2006

This guy needs to re-think his drive + marketing message cause his current drive does not speak well about his business - “Executive Touch”limo services nor does his marketing message…

The line about “Personal Services” makes the company sound more like a escort service for cars and less an exclusive limo service!

And business owners wonder why they don’t get business or attract the wrong type of business.

I wish them luck and some marketing wisdom…

I’d Like To Waste My Marketing Money…

Direct Mail Waste
Originally uploaded by Mr.Lobo.

This is exactly what Marketing Managers today are saying every time they send out SPAM Direct Mail and clog mailboxes.

Above is a picture of the recycling box on a Friday evening in my condo. As you can see it’s filled with Direct Mail pieces sent out today.

I never fail to receive at least one or two DM pieces a month that try and sell me products or services I already have…

Here’s an old idea how about you check your DM lists against your billing data before you send me MORE DM… Better still save that money and use it as incentives on me your existing customer!!! Maybe I’ll buy more products and services from you…

Will They Ever Learn???

So it only took 3 months and 2 weeks for my sofa to be delivered and in return for the mess caused by EQ3 they gave me free delivery (that they nearly missed) and a $150 credit.

Prop’s go out to Dean @ EQ3 who gets customer service. As for EQ3 Head Office I recommend an order tracking system a little more advanced than a monkey on a computer… No I’m not really mad, honest!

Muslims Killing Muslims

Why does this topic bother me?

1. I’m a global citizen

2. I grew up with a country that was secular and I had a lot of close Muslim friends. I eat, partied, and hung-out with Muslims all of my life (less since my family migrated to Canada). I have been to a Mosque and celebrated many Muslim holy festivals. So I feel like a part of me has some Muslim heritage that is experiencing a lot of pain and disgust.

This pain and disgust comes from many news reports about Muslim on Muslim violence. It would seem that Muslims are hell bent on killing other Muslims? They seem to need an advisory to blame at all times. If they are not hunting down Americans to kill they turn inward and start the self-destruct process.

Why not rally around causes like:
- Women’s rights (http://www.soundvision.com/Info/socialservice/menforwomen.asp)
- Muslim global poverty
- Wealth sharing among Muslim countries
- Education
- Standard of living
- Muslim religious respect (within Muslim sects)

Kuwaiti women granted right to vote -

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

Congrats go out to the women and men who fought hard to make this momentous event occur – finally

To think that we are in the 2000’s and women are just being given the right to vote in Kuwait!

It must have been a real hard lesson in humility for all the religious right clerics and the old sheiks political club to see this made law.

Softron Notepad
Originally uploaded by Mr.Lobo.

Yesterday while I hurriedly looking for a sheet of paper to write a telephone number on I came upon a Softron notepad. My girlfriend’s family did their 2004 taxes with them.

After jotting down the information on the white side of the sheet I flipped it over and my eye was immediately drawn to the woman on the left bottom corner. She definitely had no reason for being there other than to attack my attention - nor could or would she help me get a better tax return but she took up most of the real estate on the sheet!

What is Softron selling me? I guess a pretty woman, well endowed, with a flat stomach and an odd frigging smile (who looks Easter European - maybe!). When in fact they should be selling me on their tax services, trustworthiness, speedy returns, accessibility (available in most if not all mall’s) and affordable filling charges.

Vito Spatafora Town of Richmond Hill

Vito Spataforais - Councilor for Ward 1 Town of Richmond Hill, York Region. That’s his mug shot on the right.

Why do I have Vito’s Mug on my Blog?

Well because he’s guilty of not maintaining essential Oak Ridge road snow removal services that we pay taxes for. We seem to be the last Ward that any government services get to when there are snowstorms!

I have also noticed that road cleaning is done right up to the Bayview & Stoufville intersection and the rest of the road is left to the “imaginary cleaning party”.

The Richmond Hill municipality border ends at Bayview & Bloomington they need to make sure that services are provided to all taxes payers till that border.

I plan on taking pictures of services gone wrong and posting them on my Blog for all to see with flowery commentary to read.

Vito’s website can be found at: http://vspatafora.com/index.html (if you feel the need to browse on over)
