I was introduced to the “CUP” today and it was another not so friendly recovery apparatus. But I’m told it will help with all that scar tissue, fun stuff. The cuts are healing well and are a bit red from all the work-out they get but once again I’m told this is normal. I can finally flex my leg backward past 90 degrees which also feels like a big goal achieved in week three. Wednesday of this week I go to see my Doctor for my two week appointment and hope to have the brace off sooner than later because I prefer walking without it on.

Physio has started in full swing over the last week with a lot of soft tissue massage, extensions, half moon bike riding and wall slides with the EMS (electro muscle stimulator) attached to my leg. The plan is to go in 3 to 4 times a week over the next 3 weeks to get the foot in working order. The knee tends to swell up after an hour and a half of Physio but the Cryo Cuff manages to kill most if not all the swelling in the end. The fun part of the Cryo Cuff is that is gets so dam cold taking a leak right there and then seems like a welcome relief (though I think it would be frowned upon by the Physio staff!).

The overall swelling on the leg has dropped considerably and I have started to use a cane to walk now, though I interchange with a crutch when the hand starts to hurt a little. I did a ton of walking yesterday (Saturday) plus an hour of exercise and was hurting by about 10:30 p.m. I hit the bed and was out cold till approximately 4 in the morning. Sleeping on my stomach which I love to do is still very hard because any weight on the knee causes me serious amounts of discomfort. The plan is to work up to it in the next week and a half.
