Kuwaiti women granted right to vote -

Congrats go out to the women and men who fought hard to make this momentous event occur – finally

To think that we are in the 2000′s and women are just being given the right to vote in Kuwait!

It must have been a real hard lesson in humility for all the religious right clerics and the old sheiks political club to see this made law.

A glorious day, but sad nonetheless. Women seem to be still considered as second class citizens in many parts of the world and a great deal of coercing needs to be done in order to be granted even the most basic rights. Of course Kuwait could have probably reached this historic moment a lot earlier if it wasn’t for the U.S, who jumped high and low to reinstate the Emir monarchy, after the Persian Gulf war, a regime that withheld such rights from its citizens.
